When it comes to swashes, there is no one size fits all solution. They can vary in size, location and amount of detail.
Depending on the word, you could use a swash at the beginning, middle or end. In some cases, you could have multiple swashes in several places, which could range from subtle to dramatic. It gets tricky once you start combining them, but when done well, they can enhance the look and feel to add visual interest and balance.
As a follow-up to my previous post, I decided to share some examples of effective swashes from lettering artists who have utilized them well to show you how you could use them.
As you can see, the possibilities are endless. I could have included a lot more examples, but I decided to keep this one short and sweet.
Use swashes wisely and remember to have fun.
